Here is the first finished piece for a new extended-technique-prepared-processed-guitar album I am working on, (A). All of the pieces will be in A, using AEAEAE electric guitar tuning.
Ryan Gregory Tallman is an experimental electroacoustic composer, multi-instrumentalist, and improviser. His works incorporate “sharp, piercing tones, atmospheric effects, and sinister static,” and blend “wind-like gristle noise, harsh mid tones, and wobbling drones.” His Haunted Tapes “explore timbre and space using finely focused beams of sound.” Most recently, Muscle Memories has been hailed as “a succeeded experiment of different genres . . . with influences of power electronics, noise rhythms, and even resemblances with Pan Sonic.” Tallman has performed with Fred Firth, Pauline Oliveros, Amanda Schoffs, Roscoe Mitchell, Daniel Menche, and his interdisciplinary collaborations include compositions for the San Francisco choreographer, Melissa Payne. He has released recordings through Petcord, Isolationism Records, Subspine Records, Important Records, as well as over 20 independent, self-released albums. Tallman's work ranges from harsh noise and power electronics to sound art installations and processed, ambient acoustic sounds. Tallman, whose performances and recordings span from the savage and possessed to the subdued and immersive.
